CT Energy Assistance Programs:
The State of CT helps households pay for primary heating bills. To be eligible, household income could be up to 200% of the federal poverty income guidelines. For the upcoming 2010-2011 winter season, the Town of Avon Dept. of Social Services will be mailing more details for RETURNING applicants in late September 2010. If you do not receive this mailing by the middle of October 2010, please call Social Services at (860) 409-4346.
If you are a 1st - time applicant & heating with OIL or PROPANE, please call our office after September 1st, 2010 @ (860) 409-4346 to see if you qualify & to schedule an appointment. For those who heat with ELECTRIC or GAS, please call after November 1, 2010 to receive information and to schedule an appointment.
Operation Fuel:
Operation Fuel provides one-time assistance with heating bills for those that do not qualify for government programs. More information is usually available by November each year through Gifts of Love at (860) 676-2323.
