"Estate Planning – The Basics"

This discussion led by our guest speaker Attorney Tegan Blackburn will benefit both older and younger generations, caregivers and seniors and will focus on the most important estate planning decisions and the 4 key documents of a good estate plan. Our discussion will include “What happens if I don’t have a Will? “My neighbor has a Trust, should I have a Trust?” “What is a Health Care Proxy – Living Will?” “How do I know my wishes will be followed?” and other important topics.
For the past two decades, Attorney Tegan Blackburn has worked with many individuals, families and businesses in the Farmington Valley area helping them to create succession plans for the coming chapters of their lives and work, including succession plans for individuals and businesses, individual and family estate planning, probate and eldercare planning.

"Wii Bowling at River Ridge"

The Avon Senior Center is bringing our Wii Bowling Team “on the road” and we are having a friendly competition against our friends at River Ridge at Avon. The games will start at 11:00 a.m. and then we will enjoy a delicious lunch. We only have a limited amount of players we can bring, so please sign up early. Join us for this special program of Charles A. Lindbergh: First Ambassador of Air Travel. Join us as Ev Cassagneres, a Ryan Aircraft Historian and Lindbergh/Spirit of St. Louis Specialist, takes us through Lindbergh’s life, aviation career, and overseas travel. In addition to being a friend of the Lindbergh family, Ev Cassagneres is the author of five books, including: The Untold Story of the Spirit of St. Louis and Ambassador of Air Travel: The Untold Story of Lindbergh’s 1927-1928 Good Will Tours. WINTER FOUL WEATHER CANCELLATION POLICY
The senior center is closed when: The Avon Schools announce a closing of the schools. Please stay tuned to your news station with the latest up-date of school closings.
School Delayed Openings: The senior center is not affected by delayed openings. The senior center will open at the usual hour of 9:00am in the event of a delayed opening of the Avon schools. All programs and CRT lunches will go on as scheduled.
Early School Closings: If the Avon schools are called to close early because of inclement weather, the senior center will close early and programs will be cancelled for the rest of the day. |
Come and enjoy lunch at the Avon Senior Center on Tuesdays and Thursdays. CRT (Community Renewal Team) sponsors a lunch program at the Avon Senior Center, offering a hot, nutritious and health conscious meal. A printed menu is available each month, and reservations are required. To make a reservation, please call the Avon Senior Center the day before by 12:00 noon at 675-4355. The cost is a $2.00 donation for persons over the age of 60 and a $4.50 donation for persons 55-59 years of age. The lunch program is open to all seniors in the Town of Avon as well as surrounding towns. Come and join us and make some new friends.
