Real Estate: Due in two installments, July 1 and January 1 of each year. Taxes due on July 1 must be paid on or before August 1. Second installments must be paid on or before February 1. Interest charge on delinquent bills is 1 1/2% per month from due date.
         WE DO NOT MAIL BILLS AGAIN FOR THE JANUARY PAYMENT.

Personal Property: Due in full July 1 of each year

Motor Vehicle: Due in full July 1 of each year

Supplemental Motor Vehicle: Due in full January 1 of each year

Sewer Use:  Due in full July 1 of each year for those homes connected to the Avon sewer system.

 With whom should I speak regarding the assessment on my bill?

The Assessor's Office.   860-409-4335

Do you accept credit cards or electronic payments?

Yes, But not in the office only on line or by phone.  There is a nominal fee charged by Official Payments.


 Why do I have to pay 3% interest on August 2nd, I am just one day late?

  The law states that the interest reverts to the due date, which is July l.

    Why do I have to pay interest, I never received my bill?

   Connecticut Statutes states that failure to receive a bill does not abate the tax or the interest.
               
    My taxes are no longer being escrow, what should I do?
    Notify the Collector of Revenue so that your account can be re-coded.  
 
    Are there programs for elderly residents?

  Yes.  You will need to contact the Assessor's Office at 860-409-4335 since there are age and income requirements.

   Are there programs for Veterans or people in the military?

  Yes.  If you have your DD214 it must be filed with the Town Clerk's Office 860-409-4310.  If you are on active duty or in the reserves and not      active contact the Assessor's Office.





































Taxes due July 1st must be paid on, or before, August l, 2010  Second installment payments due January 1, 2011 must be paid on,
or before, February 1, 2011.  The interest charge on delinquent bills is 1 1/2% per month (18% per annum) from due date.
Minimum interest charge on each installment of each delinquent bill is $2.00.

1-800-2PAY-TAX. Our Jurisdiction Code is 1776.  A nominal fee will be charged by Official Payments for
this service.

To pay by mail, please list all bill numbers on a single check and make payable to Town of Avon, Collector of Revenue.
If a receipt is desired, please send a self-addressed stamped envelope.   Mail to 60 West Main Street, Avon, CT 06001_3743.
Payments may also be made at the Town Hall, Building #2, 60 West Main Street or you may use our convenient drop box
located in front of Building #2 at Town Hall.
COST OF RETURNED CHECK $20.00

THE MILL RATE this fiscal year, 2009_2010, is 23.41 mills.  The budget for this period for the Town of Avon estimates
that $3,646,043 will be received from the State of Connecticut for various state financed programs.
Without this assistance, the property tax rate would be 24.81 mills.

SUMMER HOURS     June 21– August 27 - Monday -Thursday 8:00 AM -4:45 PM,   Friday 8:00 AM -
                                     12:30 PM.  The Tax Office will be open Friday, July 30th 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM.
